Our Story

We began in 2020 as a mobile company, bringing the joy of dance, arts, and wellness directly to you through Zoom classes, mobile workshops, and community activations. As our community grew, so did our vision. Today, we are thrilled to have our very own creative space—Studio Feeling Good—located in the vibrant Norwood area. We are a hub for creativity, connection, and self-expression, where people of all ages and backgrounds can explore and thrive.

Founder

Sammy Doncamara

Sammy is a passionate teacher and multidisciplinary artist dedicated to art, theatre, and dance. Sammy began her artistic journey at Korowal, a Steiner-based school in NSW, where she developed a love for art.

A graduate of the Adelaide College of the Arts with an Advanced Diploma of Performing Arts (Acting), Sammy’s passion for theatre led her to win a scholarship in 2015 to study improvised theatre and creative facilitation at the Centre for Playback Theatre in New York. She has devised and performed several theatre and dance works presented at the Adelaide Fringe between 2014 and 2023. Her notable work, Aphrodite and the Invisible Consumer Gods, won the Adelaide Festival Centre inSpace Development Award and was later showcased at the Edinburgh and Sydney Fringe Festivals.

Sammy has also extensively studied West African and North African dance styles for over 20 years, regularly travelling to Guinea, West Africa, to deepen her understanding of traditional dance, textiles, and fashion. Since 2011, she has danced with the Sun of Africa Drum and Dance Ensemble, a South Australian group specialising in West African dance and music.

Sammy has ten years of experience teaching arts, crafts, theatre, and dance. She has worked as a creative facilitator and workshop designer for organizations such as EY, Mate Studio and EG Incursions and over the past year Sammy has also worked with people with disabilities and their support workers. In 2020, she founded her own dance group and school, Feeling Good Afro Dance and Design, where she teaches Afro fusion dance, blending her rich experiences and inspirations from her travels.
